🎶 GENRE:
Drill / R&B / Njang Fusion: A highly dynamic track contrasting hard Drill rhythms and Njang percussion with sweet, soulful R&B melodies, designed to test the boundaries of the Drill genre.

💡 WHAT I DID:
Solo Composition & Production: Hired to create a non-typical, non-dark Drill track. I handled all composition (infusing Cameroonian Njang folk elements), arrangement, vocal recording, mixing, and mastering, working alongside the artist in the studio.

✅ MY CREATIVE CHOICES:
The track contrasts the artist's triumphant determination (represented by Major/Soulful R&B chords) against his ongoing struggles (represented by Mysterious/Ghostly atmospherics and samples). This contrast prevents boredom and maintains a "sweet and hot" drive. Arrangement techniques include freezing the beat for lyrical emphasis and using the OVO Reese bass synth to intentionally kill the kick for a rhythmic listening reset. The Njang shaker percussion is layered on the Drill hi-hats, with dedicated Njang elements used at the intro/outro to anchor the artist's roots.


🎚️ MY TECHNICAL CHOICES:
The mix was engineered to control dynamic low-end contrast. The Kick/808 relationship was managed via transient shaping and spectral sidechaining. The $808$ was spatially controlled by automating its pan during transitions, enhancing the "talking" effect across the stereo field. Vocal integration balanced the aggressive Drill rhythm with R&B melody using an elaborate bus chain: Tape Saturation, two stages of serial compression, and parallel processing for punch and clarity. Tonal stability relied on serial and parallel processing. The instrumental foundation was glued via an SSL compressor on the dedicated Music Bus. The Master Bus maintained cohesion and loudness through a comprehensive process focused on tonal sculpting, harmonic enhancement, and precise dynamic control of the bass (using multiband compression), finalized by a controlled two-stage limiting process for competitive loudness.
